Jharkhand Election 2024 Date and Time: After the voting concluded in two phases in Jharkhand, people are now eagerly waiting for the outcome of the "battle of ballots" on Saturday. The state witnessed a fierce electoral battle between the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led INDIA bloc and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The state voters cast their ballots for all 81 Assembly seats in two phases – November 13 and 20. The first phase covered 43 constituencies out of the total 81 seats, while the second phase saw voting in 38 seats. This time, voter turnout reached a record 67.74 per cent, the highest since the formation of the state on November 15, 2000.

"Preparations are on for the counting day on November 23. Elaborate counting arrangements have been made at all the counting centres and observers have been appointed for each Assembly constituency separately. Each table will be headed by an ARO to ensure fair counting of postal ballots," an Election Commission official said on Friday.

In addition to the Jharkhand Assembly election results, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will also announce the results of the Maharashtra Assembly election, as well as by-elections in 41 other Assembly constituencies across 14 states. These include Rajasthan, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Punjab, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.

Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024: Date For Vote Counting 

As per ECI, vote counting will take place on Saturday, November 23, and the results will be announced the same day. Counting of postal ballots will start at 8 am, and the trends and results are likely to start trickling in by 9 am.

The result will decide whether the JMM-led alliance or BJP-led NDA will form the next government in Jharkhand with the former seeking to retain power and the latter attempting to wrest it from the ruling dispensation.

According to PTI, while some exit polls predict that the BJP-led NDA is likely to oust the ruling JMM-led coalition, others forecast the return of the INDIA alliance in Jharkhand.

In the 2019 assembly elections, the contest was close, with JMM winning 30 seats and BJP securing 25, down from 37 in 2014. The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance won a comfortable majority with 47 seats.
