Zakir Hussain, legendary tabla virtuoso, dies at 73
As the eldest son of the illustrious tabla player Allah Rakha, Zakir Hussain was naturally drawn towards music from a young age.
Renowned tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain died on Sunday, December 15.
Confirming the news of his demise, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting wrote on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter): "The world has lost a true musical genius. Zakir Hussain's contributions to the world of music will forever be cherished."

He was 73 years old.
Hussain's manager, Nirmala Bachani, said that the maestro was battling blood-pressure related problems, according to news agency IANS.
Hussain was born on March 9, 1951, in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
