International Day for Tolerance 2022:  The International Day for Tolerance is observed annually on November 16 to promote awareness of the value of tolerance in society. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the negative effects of an intolerant culture and celebrate receptivity. The date of this year's celebration of International Day for Tolerance is Wednesday, 16 November, 2022.

According to UNESCO, "Tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human."

International Day for Tolerance 2022: Significance

This day aids in eradicating intolerance and teaches people how to be more tolerant towards each other. It increases public understanding of tolerance and its effects on various cultural groups. To make the world a better place to live in, tolerance should be encouraged on both a personal and professional level. It is one of a few things that the world really needs more of right now.

International Day for Tolerance 2022: History

To define and raise awareness of tolerance for all governing and participating authorities, UNESCO produced the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance in 1995. It was November 16 in 1995. To assist promote tolerance and raise awareness of any intolerance that may still be pervasive in the world today, we now observe the International Day for Tolerance on November 16 as a commemoration of that Declaration. Even though we should practise tolerance every day, it's always helpful to have a specific occasion to underscore its significance.

International Day for Tolerance 2022: UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize

The UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize was established by UNESCO in 1995 to commemorate both the 125th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth and the United Nations Year for Tolerance. This award recognizes outstanding contributions made in the domains of science, the arts, culture, or communication that advance tolerance and nonviolence. 
The creation of the Prize has been inspired by the ideals of UNESCO’s Constitution that proclaims that "peace, if it is not to fail, must be founded on the intellectual and moral solidarity of mankind", as per UNESCO.
