Chaitra Navratri 2023: Chaitra Navratri will commence from March 22, as per Hhindu calendar. Chaitra Navratri is a nine days festivity that starts on the first day of the Hindu Luni-Solar calendar and falls in March or April. There are four Navratris throughout the year, in which the Navratri of Ashwin month and Chaitra month are considered as significant.
Chaitra Navratri 2023: Start, End Date and puja timings
The Ghatasthapana Muhurta falls on Pratipada Tithi this year. Also, Ghatasthapana Muhurta falls during Dvi-Svabhava Meena Lagna.
In 2023, Pratipada Tithi will begin at 10:52 pm on March 21, 2023, and will end at 8:20 pm on March 22, 2023.
The Meena Lagna will begin at 6:23 am on March 22, 2023, and will end at 7:32 am on March 22, 2023.
Chaitra Navratri 2023: Significance
It is said that Chaitra Navratri was the most prevalent in Satyuga, from this day the era is also considered to have started. That's why Chaitra Navratri starts at the beginning of Samvat.
Chaitra Navratri, according to devotees, represents the triumph of good over evil. It symbolises Goddess Durga's victory over the demon Mahishasura. People perform Kalash sthapana puja on this day. They fast for nine days to obtain the Goddess' blessings, eating sabudana vada, sabudana khichadi, singhare ka halwa, kuttu ki puri, singhare ke pakore, and so on.

Chaitra Navratri 2023: Rituals
Devotees light a desi ghee lamp as a symbol to reduce negative energy in their environment, while others sow barley, the first crop of the spring season, in their homes.
During the nine days of Navratri, food items such as jaggery, coconut, bananas, and kheer are offered as 'bhog' to the nine forms of 'Shakti'.
People also wear nine different colours during the nine days of Navratri.

Day 3: Green
Day 4: Gray
Day 5: Orange
Day 6: White
Day 7: Red
Day 8: Sky blue
Day 9: Pink
