Apollo Hospitals witnesses 400% increase in robotics procedures in last 2 years
According to a statement, Apollo Hospitals has carried out more than 10,000 robotics-assisted surgeries to date.
Apollo Hospitals has witnessed an increase of over 400 per cent in the number of robotic-assisted procedures in the last two years. According to the healthcare group, it has conducted more than 10,000 robotic-assisted surgeries since 2011.
The healthcare group has also expanded and introduced robotic-assistive procedures to over 20+ specialities. According to Apollo Hospitals, robotic surgeries have seen maximum application across urological, gynaecology, oncology, orthopaedic and cardiothoracic procedures.
The use of robotics in surgeries not only gives superior clinical precision but has also been instrumental in reducing overall patient hospital stay and enabling faster recovery in most cases. For instance, Apollo Hospitals has witnessed an average reduction of up to 25 per cent in its patient hospital time in cases of joint replacement procedures. Similarly, hospital stay has been reduced by up to 20 per cent in urological procedures and by up to a whopping 50 per cent in cardiac robotic surgeries.
According to Dr Prathap Reddy - Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group - they have invested extensively in the past 10 years in ensuring all the hospitals have access to the best-in-class robotic devices as well as in upskilling our workforce expertise in this area.
“For 40 years, Apollo has pioneered innovation in treatments to give patients the best care. Robotics is one more step in our mission to bring the best healthcare to all and we strongly believe that it will form the backbone of our country’s medical infrastructure in the decade to come," Dr Reddy added.
In the first two months of 2023 (January & February), Apollo Hospitals has already performed more than 450+ robotic surgeries in India and expects this number to increase significantly through the year.
