Aadhaar Data Leak: Resecurity report says UID data of 81 crore Indians being sold on the dark web; Know who is selling them

Aadhaar Data Leak: Resecurity, an American cyber security firm, has claimed in one of its reports that Aadhaar data of more than 81 crore Indians has been leaked and it is being sold on the dark web. The report said that there is a possibility in the report that the database of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had been breached.
It has been said that Aadhaar and passport information of Indians, such as their names, phone numbers and addresses, are being sold on the dark web.
What does Resecurity report say?
Resecurity has said in its report that in early October, its HUNTER (HUMINT) unit had found millions of personally identifiable information records on the dark web, which also contained Aadhaar cards of Indian citizens, which were being sold.
"On October 9, a threat actor named 'pwn0001' posted a thread on the breach forums that showed Aadhaar and passport records of 815 million Indians were accessed," the firm said in its report.
The report also said that when HUNTER (HUMINT) investigators contacted the threat actor, he was ready to sell the entire Aadhaar and passport data for $80,000.
What details are hackers selling?
According to the report, 'pwn0001' was selling multiple data sets of Indians, including fields like name, father's name, phone number, second number, passport number, Aadhaar number, age, gender, address, district, pincode and state.
The name was there, there could have been more information in it.
The report states that pwn0001 had shared four spreadsheets, in which HUNTER analysts found proof of Aadhaar data, which were related to a government portal offering 'Verify Aadhaar' feature.
