Thank God movie controversy: The movie stars Ajay Devgn and Siddhartha Malhotra. The film is set to release in theatres on October 25.
Thank God movie Controversy: Ajay Devgn's upcoming film Thank God has run into trouble. After a case was filed in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur, Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Vishvas Sarang has demanded from the Centre to ban the movie. In a letter written to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur, the Minister has claimed that Thank God has showcased an inappropriate depiction of Hindu Gods.
Vishvas Sarang said that it has been a trend in Bollywood to depict Hindu Gods and Goddess in wrong manner, thereby hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
"In a fresh such incident, Ajay Devgan starring in the movie - 'Thank God', Chitragupt, who is considered as the God of Kayastha community, has been portrayed with half-nude women and derogatory language has been used in the movie. It has hurt the sentiments of the people of Kayastha community across the country and therefore, this movie should be banned," he wrote.
Sarang is MLA from the Narela Assembly constituency in Bhopal.
Thank God is an upcoming comedy film. It also stars Rakul Preet. Earlier this month, a case was filed against director Indra Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Siddhartha Malhotra in a Jaunpur court by lawyer Himanshu Srivastava. The petitioner has accused them of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus.

Ajay Devgn plays the role of Chitragupta in the movie. Chitragupta is regarded as the Lord of Karma and keeps a record of a man's good and bad deeds. He is seen wearing a suit one of the scenes and he cracks jokes.
The petitioner said that such depiction of Gods can create an unpleasant situation since it hurts religious sentiments.
The movie is set to release in theatres on October 25.
