Ponniyin Selvan 2 box office collection day 10: Mani Ratnam's film surpasses Rs 150 crore mark

Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 has been performing excellently since it hit the theatres on April 28. After the success of Ponniyin Selvan I, Ratnam made the second part of the movie which has collected over Rs 150 crore in 10 days.  

The historical drama gained pace over the weekend and scored strong ratings. This is excellent news for the Ponniyin Selvan 2 squad. The movie will probably remain in theatres for a few more weeks if things keep up.  

'Ponniyin Selvan 2', which has been released in several Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, is also doing well in other Indian states, and on day nine of its domestic release, it allegedly had a domestic gross of over Rs 140 crores. The worldwide box office takes for "Ponniyin Selvan 2" is estimated to be between Rs 280 and 285 crores after peaking on the second Saturday. The movie is shortly expected to surpass the 300 crore mark.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 Storyline 

The historical drama is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 Tamil novel of the same name, which chronicles the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I.

The movie is produced by Madras Talkies and also backed by Lyca Productions. The film features music by Ratnam's frequent collaborator AR Rahman.
