Jailer vs Gadar 2 Box office collections: How Rajnikanth and Sunny Deol starrer movies are faring

August has been a festive month for Indian cinema. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 have continued to mint money, becoming a delight for the industry as a whole. Jailer marks the comeback of Rajinikanth to the big screen after a gap of almost two years. The film also stars Mohanlal, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles. The film clashed with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 at the box office. The cross-border drama, which is a sequel to the hit 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, starred Ameesga Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in pivotal roles. 

Jailer box office collection:

Rajinikanth’s Jailer grossed over Rs 450.80 crore globally in its first week. According to film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, Jailer’s worldwide collection stands at Rs 550 crore. The action drama has become the second-fastest Tamil movie to achieve this feat, after 2.0. Interestingly, 2.0 also starred Rajinikanth in the lead.

Gadar 2 box-office collection:

Gadar 2 started off with a bang at the box office. The film, which also clashed with OMG 2 at the box office, has become the fourth-highest-grossing movie in Hindi cinema. 

As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Gadar 2 is now the fourth-highest-grossing movie in Hindi cinema. When it comes to domestic collections, Gadar 2 has left Jailer far behind. The Sunny Deol film is inching towards the Rs 400 crore mark.
