Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has launched sales of tomatoes at a subsidised rate of Rs 60 per kg in Delhi-NCR. National Cooperative Consumers' Federation (NCCF) vans will provide tomatoes at a subsidised rate in the national capital region, selling the perishable commodity at the special rate.

Prices of most vegetables such as tomato, peas, green beans and bottle gourd have surged sharply over the last one week in Punjab and Haryana due to various factors, traders said today. The prices of peas have risen sharply from nearly Rs 70-80 per kg to Rs 100-110 per kg, they said.
