The LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) cooking gas of 14.2 kg has become costlier by Rs 50 effective today, a news agency ANI reported on Saturday. The rates of 14.2 kg LPG cylinders were earlier hiked in March 2022.

According to the IOC statement, non-subsidised or market priced LPG cylinder rates have been cut by a steep Rs 120.50 per cylinder too. Reason behind the move to cut the rates was made clear by the statement - “due to fall in price of LPG in international market and strengthening of US dollar-rupee exchange rate.”

The price of non-subsidised LPG cooking gas will be hiked by Rs 35.50 per cylinder in New Delhi, and that of the subsidised one by a marginal Rs 1.76, effective August 1. The increase in prices of non-subsidised LPG cylinder is mainly due to changes in international prices and foreign exchange fluctuations, according to Indian Oil Corporation.
