Food delivery aggregator Zomato on Thursday said the GST department in Thane has imposed a tax demand of Rs 803.4 crore, including interest and penalty. The demand order has been received in respect of non-payment of GST on delivery charges with interest and penalty thereon, Zomato said in a regulatory filing.
This year-on-year surge showcases not only the capacity of the system but also the proactive engagement of taxpayers in adhering to filing deadlines.

The facility of SMS filing of NIL statement of FORM GSTR-1 is going to start from 1st week of July 2020. GST taxpayers with NIL outward supplies would not be required to log on to the GST Portal and would be able to file their NIL statement in FORM GSTR-1 through just an SMS.

The government on Wednesday (June 24) announced relief for taxpayers. Centre has extended the deadline for filing income-tax returns (ITR) for FY20 and FY 21. The new deadline for the fiscal year 2018-19 is July 31, 2020 while that for FY2019-20 is November 30, 2020.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Wednesday issued a notification to provide further relief to taxpayers by extending various time limits of compliances. The taxpayers will now have time to file ITR for FY 2018-19 (AY 2019-20) till July 31, 2020 while the due date for income tax return for the FY 2019-20 (AY 2020-21) has been extended to November 30, 2020.
