The Finance Ministry would review the efficacy of windfall tax on the export of petrol, diesel and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) as global crude oil prices have stabilised, sources said. Phenomenal profits made by some oil refiners on exporting fuel at the expense of domestic supplies had prompted the government to introduce an export tax on petrol, diesel and ATF in July 2022.

Crude, Gold-Silver, Metals declined in the commodity market today. Crude fell more than 4%. Brent Crude reached near $ 102 per barrel. MCX Crude is trading with a fall of Rs 7,626. Gold futures fell by Rs 400 to Rs 49,572 per 10 grams, while silver futures fell by more than Rs 1,200 to Rs 54,273 per kg. On the other hand, base metals saw a decline of about 2%.

According to a Reuters report, India has cut a windfall tax on oil producers and refiners and exempted gasoline from an export levy, less than three weeks after it imposed the two charges.
