The Finance Ministry would review the efficacy of windfall tax on the export of petrol, diesel and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) as global crude oil prices have stabilised, sources said. Phenomenal profits made by some oil refiners on exporting fuel at the expense of domestic supplies had prompted the government to introduce an export tax on petrol, diesel and ATF in July 2022.

On Thursday, once again there was weakness in the US markets. Dow Jones slipped 175 points to close at a 2-month low, while the Nasdaq fell 1.5%. FedEx has withdrawn its guidance for the year. Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) declined by Rs 23 to Rs 50,115 per 10 grams. Whereas the Silver futures rose by Rs 99 to Rs 56,910 per kg. Apart from this, crude futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) is trading higher by Rs 39 to Rs 6,967. Brent Crude reached at $93.57 per barrel and WTI Crude reached at $87.70 per barrel.
