Jharsuguda by-election result 2023 Highlights: The counting of votes in the by-election to the Jharsuguda assembly seat in Odisha concluded with Biju Janata Dal's (BJD) candidate Dipali Das emerging as the clear winner. Dipali Das won over 1 lakh votes (nearly 61 per cent of the vote share). The by-election was necessitated following the murder of sitting MLA and the then Health Minister Naba Kishore Das on January 29. Though nine candidates were in the fray, the contest was mainly between the BJD, BJP and Congress. The BJD fielded Das's daughter Dipali Das, while the BJP had nominated Tankadhar Tripathy. The Congress had fielded Tarun Pandey, the son of late MLA Biren Pandey. All three candidates are debutant contestants.
