In PICS! Asus ZenBook Pro Duo (UX582) Laptop REVIEW: Good dual-screen laptop but is it worth your money?

The flagship Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 is available at a starting price of Rs 2,39,990. We used Asus Asus ZenBook 15 Pro Duo for almost two weeks and here's what I think about this incredible laptop from the Taiwanese tech giant. Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 (UX582) is a Windows 10 Home laptop with a 15.60-inch display. It is powered by a Core i7 processor and it comes with 32GB of RAM. The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 (UX582) packs 1TB of SSD storage. Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 has a 15.6-inch OLED 4K UHD NanoEdge touch-enabled display with 440 nits brightness. The laptop boasts a 0.2 ms response time, 178-degree viewing angles and 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. 

The secondary display is a 14.1-inch ScreenPad Plus (3840 x 1100 (4K)) colour calibrated display IPS-level panel with stylus support and 400 nits max brightness. A 92 Wh lithium-polymer battery backs the laptop. It weighs 2.35 kg approximately and measures 359 x 249 x 21.5 mm. The Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 is powered by Intel Core i9-10980HK processor and Intel Core i7-10870H processor. The graphics on the system are handled by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6. The laptop operates on Windows 10 Home. Memory options on the Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED include a 32 GB MHz DDR4 RAM and a 1TB SSD storage onboard. Connectivity options range from Dual-band WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 to two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C, a USB 3.2, a full-size HDMI 2.1, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a MicroSD reader.  

The major highlights of the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 are that this laptop not only impresses you with productivity and creativity but also gives you an amazing multimedia experience. You will love playing heavy games and watching Netflix for long hours. The reason why I'm gonna recommend this laptop to our readers is the design of this dual-screen laptop. Even during heavy usage and doing multiple tasks on both screens for long hours, the device kept working smoothly and it was a lag-free experience. The battery life of this machine is good. With the seamless ScreenPad Plus, a secondary touchscreen, this machine has delivered a solid overall performance. In terms of design, this Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 has ticked almost all the right boxes. The new ZenBook Duo is a lightweight laptop. It is made of a Magnesium-Aluminum alloy and the build is solid. The laptop measures less than 22mm and weighs merely 2.35kg. It’s slimmer too as it sheds 2.5 mm Z-height over the previous generation. This was made possible by the tilting ScreenPad Plus design, which challenged us to rearrange the internals. At 2.35, the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 is extremely light and we did not face any issue while carrying it in a bag during travel.

For easy connectivity, Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 comes Dual-band WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 to two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C, a USB 3.2, a full-size HDMI 2.1, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a MicroSD reader. ​The two Thunderbolt 3 ports on board offer 40 Gbps bandwidth, which enables output to an external 8K display or two 4K UHD display. Select from Dial, Button, Slider, and Scroll. Each control works in a unique way to boost your creative workflow. Control Panel is fully customisable and it works with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro and After Effects. 

In terms of performance, the keys are sized pretty well and the keyboard is comfortable to use. The touch-pad of the laptop and ScreenPad Plus is faster, easy-to-use and definitely looks cool. From playing games and watching movies on Netflix to daily office work, we didn't face any issue. The Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 machine is really fast and can handle most of your work effortlessly. The audio quality of the device was good. I was using this laptop in a metro and the audio performance of this machine in a loud place was up to the mark. In terms of battery performance, the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 itself has a 92 Wh lithium-polymer battery. The ZenBook Pro Duo is a powerful machine and even with dual screens on the battery lasted for longer duration, while reviewing this unit, on moderate use, we received up to nine hours of battery on one single charge even after using both screens for long hours. In fact, during the heavy gaming, we didn't face major heating issues.

Verdict: Available at a price of Rs 2,39,990, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 comes in the premium laptop category and offers top-end features and performance. In our review, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 has definitely justified its pricing. As the name suggests Duo screen factor will attract many premium customers. This laptop provides a lag-free experience, faster, and has a very good battery life. Overall, the laptop has ticked most of the right boxes
