Xiaomi's much-awaited flagship under its sub-brand Redmi is expected to be launched in China on Monday. Now, a leak suggests that the Chinese manufacturer might also launch a new device at the same event. The leak claims that the company will launch a Redmi laptop alongside its Snapdragon 855-powered phone. This leak is the first time we are hearing about the Redmi laptop as the company is yet to confirm anything. The laptop launch was claimed by tipster and leakster Sudhanshu Ambhore on Twitter - he claimed that the devices will come with Redmi branding.
"#Redmi will also release their Laptops under #Redmi branding (like #Xiaomi's Mi Notebook) with their flagship phone," he had tweeted on May 6. If true, this would be the first laptop to be launched under Redmi brand. Xiaomi is not the only smartphone manufacturer to have considered a laptop. Huawei follows a similar startegy where it launches laptops through its sub-brand Honor. The Huawei computers are released under the MateBook series, while the Honor brand has the MagicBook series.
Redmi's latest flagship
According to a tweet from tipster Ishan Agarwal, Xiaomi will launch two models of the Redmi flagship in China. The tweet claims that the smartphone will come in three colours - Red, Blue, and Carbon Fibre, and will be available in four variants - 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.
However, Agarwal added that this information is only for China launch and there could be changes in the Indian variants of the phone. In another tweet, Agarwal added that M1903F10 and M1903F11 are the model numbers of the two upcoming phones. The tipster suggested that one of the smartphones might be aunched as the Poco F2.
Meanwhile, Redmi brand's general manager Lu Weibing recently teased that the upcoming Redmi flagship and suggested that it might have an in-display fingerprint sensor and a battery large enough to last two days. The phone is expected to run MIUI 10 based on Android Pie and sport a 32-megapixel selfie shooter.
