Xiaomi Mi 10 India launch postponed due to nation-wide Coronavirus lockdown

The Chinese smartphone company has decided to push back the launch of its flagship Mi 10 in India after PM Narendra Modi ordered a nationwide lockdown. Already launched in February, the Mi 10 was scheduled to be launched in India on March 31. The country is currently under a 21-day complete lockdown, and only essential goods are allowed to be sold for now.
In an official statement, Xiaomi said, “After careful deliberation, we have taken the decision to postpone the launch of Xiaomi's flagship Mi 10 in India, which was scheduled on 31st March, 2020. We are evaluating the situation and will release a revised launch date soon.”
The company said that its energy and synergy will be used to support the nation in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Xiaomi India chief Manu Kumar Jain has also confirmed the postponement of the Mi 10 launch event on Twitter. However, the new launch date for the smartphone was not unveiled.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi had successfully launched its Redmi Note series – even after cancelling the on ground event. However, it had to cancel the sale of Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in the country due to movement restriction imposed by the government. The Redmi Note 9 Pro was last made available on March 24, and after that a new flash sale date has not been announced.
Realme and Vivo are other brands to have cancelled their launches in the country. Realme was set to launch its Nazro series on March 26. The series comprises of Realme Narzo 10 and Realme Narzo 10A phones. The launch has been postponed indefinitely for now.
Vivo too has shifted its March launches to sometime in April now.
