Realme has taken on Xiaomi after being called a copy-cat brand in the Indian smartphone market. Realme CEO Madhav Sheth took to Twitter on Tuesday, saying "a real innovative brand and market leader won`t behave like that" and added that ethics should be maintained even if you are insecure. Sheth's reply came in response to a tweet by Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi Vice President and Xiaomi India Managing Director which blamed Realme for being a "copy-cat brand."
"A real innovative brand and market leader won`t behave like that. Basic dignity and ethics should be maintained no matter how insecure you are of your competitor`s growth," the tweet from Sheth read.
"Funny! A copy-cat brand mocks us. Later this brand brings ads & some ppl start blaming us. Most brands push ads but only Xiaomi is bashed. Because we`ve been transparent about our business model. If any journalist wants to understand our internet business, I`m happy to talk!" Jain had tweeted last week.

Speaking to Zee Business Online last year, Madhav had said that Realme has always respected all its competitors. Asked about the rivalry with Xiaomi, Sheth had said that he has respected all the brands in the Indian market and more competition is always better for the users.
When caught using an Apple phone last year, Madhav had explained that he keeps checking on devices from other smartphone manufacturers to ensure that Realme products are better.
"I have always been fair to my users. I use almost all the smartphones. If I want to show that my charging technology is better than other flagship smartphones, I will have to use them. But, from the day I have joined Realme, I have not used any other smartphone and I can vouch for it," Sheth had told Zee Business Online.
Interestingly, the latest tweet from Sheth comes days before Xiaomi's sub-brand Poco is launching its second device, "POCO X2", while Realme already has its 'X' line up of devices.
