Huami Amazfit Verge Lite review: Eye-catching smartwatch with amazing battery life, affordable price tag
Huami Amazfit Verge Lite review: Most smartwatches available in India can't be called affordable. In fact, there are a very few good options under Rs 10,000. And, Xiaomi backed Huami aims to change that with the launch of Amazfit Verge Lite which goes on sale through Flipkart from August 6.
Huami Amazfit Verge Lite review: Fitness is the new craze and Indians are increasingly taking to it like fish to water! Yes, it is no secret that Indians are getting fitness conscious and this, in turn, has helped the fitness industry to grow at a fast pace here. The smart wearable industry has also benefited from this growth and revenue in this segment stands at $1,446 million in 2019 so far, according to the data by Statista. This is expected to grow at an annual rate of 5.8 per cent, resulting in a market volume of $1,814 million by 2023. The manufacturers are offering a number of smartwatches and fitness bands. But, the problem with the former remains the price tag.
Most smartwatches available in India can't be called affordable. In fact, there are a very few good options under Rs 10,000. And, Xiaomi backed Huami aims to change that with the launch of Amazfit Verge Lite which goes on sale through Flipkart from August 6. Verge Lite is basically an affordable version of the Amazfit Verge and in this review, we will tell you whether it is worth spending on or not.
The Amazfit Verge Lite comes with a very eye-catching design and has been given a toy watch-like look by the company. This distinguishes it from other smartwatches available in India. The watch has been launched in two colour options - White and Black. For review, we had a white colour unit which looks very sober. I have been using this unit now for almost a week and, in these seven days at least 10 people have asked me about the watch.
In fact, some of them even got the watch removed and tried it themselves (one actually works with a company that has their own lineup of smartwatches)! So, this confirms one thing that the design and look of the Verge Lite has a lot of potential. Having said that, you might not be impressed if you are looking for an enterprise look. Otherwise, Amazfit has done a decent job on the design.
On this watch, you get a 1.3-inch AMOLED display which offers a very smooth touch. The screen produces decent colours and only struggles a little in the daylight. You might even have to switch the brightness to manual from Auto Mode. The screen is protected by an anti-finger-print Corning Gorilla Glass. This means that not only is your watch protected but also doesn't fingerprints that easily. The feature is very useful for rough users like me.
Amazfit Verge Lite offers you all the basic features of a smartwatch like 24 hours heart rate monitoring and customised faces. Apart from these, you can also use it to manage notifications, setup alarm and event reminders. The watch allows you to track seven different fitness activities like running and cycling.
In most cases, the watch gave an accurate reading.
One of the biggest highlights of the Amazfit Verge Lite is its highly impressive battery life. The company claims that the watch could run for around 20 days on a single charge. But, you can better results with medium usage. I have been wearing the watch to work and home (for about 12 hours) and it drains just 1 to 2 per cent battery life. Almost unbelievable!
There are very few good smartwatches available in India under Rs 10,000. This makes the Amazfit Verge Lite a perfect steal. Priced aggressively at Rs 6,999, it emerges as a rare option at this price point in the Indian market. The design might not be a hit among corporates but overall, the watch seems like a good value for money package.
