Google Meet “On-the-Go” mode: How to use this new feature

Google is developing a new "on-the-go" feature for its video communication service, Google Meet. The new feature will offer users an easy and safe way to take part in video calls even while they are on the move.

Once this mode is made available, there will be two ways to access it, 9To5Google reported. Firstly the users may receive a prompt when Google Meet detects motion from the phone's sensors, indicating that the user is not static. The call will be seamless for the users to switch to the travel-friendly mode without slowing them down as a result of the automatic detection feature.

Another alternative is for the users to manually activate the "on-the-go" mode on Google Meet by selecting a new option from the in-call menu. This option will provide users with more discretion over whether they wish to use this feature, regardless of whether motion is detected or not, 9To5Google reported.

The new mode also gives some additional functions, such as turning off the camera and stopping video streaming, to maintain the user's security as needed. It also introduced a simpler layout with only a few buttons, such as Raise, Mute, and Audio. Another feature added to picture-in-picture windows is the ability to turn the camera and microphone on and off directly from the picture-in-picture mode, the report added.

The 'On-the-Go' option has not been officially launched by Google, but users may expect it to be released soon.

Recently, Google made an effort to improve the user experience on Google Meet by introducing 1080p calling in April of this year. The goal of this invention was to produce footage that was crisper and sharper.

The tech giant is also exploring a new feature in its photo-sharing and storage service in the near future. As reported, some users have spotted the app's on-demand cinematic effect option.
