COVID-19 Vaccine India: As the second wave of the COVID-19 infection looms large in the country, the vaccination drive is going on. People are searching for COVID-19 vaccine-related information from everywhere. However, now Google will make it easy for the Indian people. How? Let's see!

Google is rolling out a new update for its Search app in India as per a report by bgr.in. This will now be able to show its users information related to the COVID-19 vaccine and its registration. Furthermore, the company is also engaged in testing new features on Google Maps in order to help the users in locating critical COVID-19 resources like hospital beds and oxygen concentrators by using crowd-sourced information.

Now, the Google search app will show different information panels. These information panels will consist of updates on vaccine safety, efficacy, side-effects and others. Also, one may get to know about COVID-19 vaccine registration from these information panels. Google has also added a link to the Indian government’s CoWIN portal in the vaccine information tab.

Information about prevention, self-care and treatment are also shown under the Prevention and Treatment tab while searching for COVID-19. The app states that all information has been sourced from authorised medical sources as well as the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Speaking of COVID-19 vaccination in India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) had informed on Tuesday that the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in India has reached 17,51,71,482.  As per provisional report till 8 PM on Tuesday, 4,74,629 beneficiaries from the age group 18 and 44 years received their first shot of COVID-19 vaccine.

Coming back to the Google COVID-19 search app, the company has enabled its Search and Maps products to share locations of over 23,000 vaccination centres nationwide sourced from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The company had also provided a similar experience of locating test centers to the users last year.
