We reviewed the Galaxy Tab A 8 silver variant for more than two weeks and Here's what I have to say about this device.
Available at a starting price of Rs 17,999, the Galaxy Tab A8 tablet comes with powerful features. Getting a tablet in less than 20K from brand like Samsung will definitely attract young buyers - especially students, who are taking online classes these days. The only competition Samsung might face is from Realme. Realme Pad tablet is also available in the similar price range and comes with decent specifications.
Coming back to Galaxy Tab A8, this device is designed in such a way that even after playing games and watching web series and doing multiple tasks, the tablet kept working smoothly and it was a lag-free experience. The newly-launched tablet is housed in an attractive Aluminium case, which will get immediate attraction from potential buyers.
This new design might attract those who are looking to buy a tablet in a budget range. In terms of design and build, the good thing is that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 is not heavy, you can carry it without any difficulty and one can hold it in hands for long hours comfortably. It measures 246.80 x 161.90 x 6.90mm mm and weighs 508.00 grams. The back panel looks premium ad well. Overall, Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 has ticked the right boxes in terms of design under the affordable category.
On the right side of the tablet, the Galaxy Tab A8 houses a power button and the volume rockers and on the left edge, you will find a dedicated space for a SIM tray. At the bottom, the device features Type-C USB charging port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Dolby quad speakers, which is loud and worked very well during the review period. Connectivity options on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 include USB Type-C, Wi-Fi, and GPS. Sensors on the tablet include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and compass/ magnetometer.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 offer with a large immersive display as it comes with expanded 10.5-inch screen with slim bezel and 16:10 common aspect ratio. The result is an 80 percent screen to body ratio, which enables much more immersive viewing experience than past tablet models. The display ensures vivid and dynamic viewing experience, while reviewing this Tab A8, the colors came out good on the screen.
I watched Russia-Ukraine conflict on YouTube and some TV shows on OTT platforms including Amazon Prime and Netflix and I can say the display has impressed me. Also, Galaxy Tab A8 delivers entertaining and productive experience. For simpler, powerful multitasking, You can split the screen and use two apps side-by-side, and even add a pop-up window too, with Multi-Active Window. There’s Drag & Split feature that automatically opens a second browser window for more dynamic webpage browsing.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Galaxy Tab A8 offers a 5MP selfie camera that did a good job during video chats and online meetings under good light conditions. On the other hands, the back panel of this tablet houses an 8MP camera with autofocus but without any additional photography aids such as an image stabilizer or flash. Overall, the camera department did a decent job here.
This device is powered by an octa-core processor and comes with 3GB RAM. It runs Android 11. While playing games like games and performing regular tasks like switching between the apps, this device didn't lag and worked smoothly. The overall viewing and gaming experience was fine and lag-free. Galaxy Tab A8 ensures enhanced performance, smooth multi-tasking, seamless app navigation and uninterrupted gaming.
In terms of battery performance, the Galaxy Tab A8 comes with a massive 7040mAh battery and with up to 15W fast-charging which ensures that you can do your work for hours without worrying about frequent charging. On normal usage, this device lasted for more than a day on a single charge. However, the battery of Galaxy Tab A8 drained very fast on heavy usage.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 verdict: This newly launched affordable tablet from Samsung is quite promising and is designed to meet the demands of budget tablet users in India. The Samsung Galaxy A8 is competing with Realme Pad. This Samsung tablet comes with impressive design that offers many top-end features and a decent price range.
