IndiGo passengers stranded at Mumbai airport for over 9 hours
Passengers reported being kept onboard the aircraft for several hours without any updates, leading to confusion and frustration.
Around 100 passengers of IndiGo Airlines have been stranded at Mumbai Airport for over nine hours. The flight, scheduled to depart for Istanbul at 6:55 am, was delayed due to technical issues, as per a press statement from the airline.
Passengers reported being kept onboard the aircraft for several hours without any updates, leading to confusion and frustration. One passenger alleged that they received drinking water only 13 hours after the ordeal began. IndiGo staff later informed passengers that the flight had been cancelled.
In its statement, the airline said “We regret that our flight 6E17, originally scheduled to operate from Mumbai to Istanbul, faced a delay due to technical issues.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts to rectify the issue and dispatch it to the destination, we eventually had to cancel the flight, the airline said.
"While our teams are working hard to provide support to our affected customers, by keeping them informed, and arranging welfare measures such as accommodation, meal vouchers, and full refunds, we know that no amount of effort can fully undo the inconvenience caused," IndiGo stated.
According to IndiGo, an alternate aircraft has been arranged and is now scheduled to depart at 11:00 pm, and they want to assure our customers that their safety and comfort remain our top priorities.
Despite these measures, many passengers continued their protests, demanding clarity, quicker arrangements, and improved handling of such situations.
