Nothing Phone (2): Is Carl Pei's company planning to launch smartwatch too?

Nothing Phone (2) launch date in India: Nothing is gearing up for the launch of its much-awaited Nothing Phone (2). The company has officially announced the date for the launch i.e. July 11. While Nothing fans are thrilled about the launch, there seems to be some more exciting news in the offing for them. According to reports, the London-based startup is actively developing a smartwatch. Some reports went on to claim that the watch has already received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

It is to be noted that Pei recently shared a post on the microblogging site Twitter wherein he talked about Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro. Pei even said that he find smartwatches "kind of useless". 

Pei expressed his interest in smartwatches by saying that he is "learning about the category"

"Got the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro on Sunday to learn about smartwatches, but I don't know what to use it for... Feels kind of useless? What do you use smart watches for?" he tweeted.

With all this, many are left wondering if this is an indication that Nothing is entering into the smart wearable segment.

While this is something that only time will tell, it is very common for smartphone manufacturers to enter into wearable and earable segments. Nothing is already into manufacturing TWS earbuds. 

However, there are certain things that are worth noting. A certification doesn't necessarily mean that the product will be launched. Also, there are chances that Nothing will come up with just a fitness tracker. So Nothing fans will have to wait for any official confirmation from the company.

Meanwhile,  Nothing has confirmed the launch date of the Nothing Phone (2) and Pei has even confirmed some of the specifications. According to Pie, the second generation smartphone of the company will come with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Also, it is expected to come with a 50MP triple camera setup and an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Nothing products are known for having see-through design and dot matrix typography.
