Marshall Major V Review: The Major V features a classic design that exudes a premium feel for everyday use. Its leather finish looks distinct in black colour.
Marshall Major V Review: Are you tired of constantly charging your audio accessories and looking for a device that can offer extended battery life? Look no further than Marshall Major V, a wireless on-ear headphones that can offer an impressive 100 hours of battery backup. Known for its music amplifiers and speakers, Marshall has added another headphone to its Major series. But is it the right choice for you? Find out in this review.
Design
The Major V features a classic design that exudes a premium feel for everyday use. Its leather finish looks distinct in black colour. Adding extra foam padding could have made the headphones more comfortable when placed over the head.
The durable, foldable yoke makes the headphones easy to carry while on the go. Weighing around 185 grams, they are effortless to wear for extended hours. Moreover, 86 per cent of the plastic used in manufacturing is recycled material, sourced from items like electronic devices and CDs.
However, be mindful of sweat accumulation in warm environments. In air-conditioned ambience, the headphones perform exceptionally well. They also offer adjustable fitting to cater to individual preferences as a proper fit is essential for optimising bass and sound quality.
Button controls
The Major V simplifies controls with just two buttons: one on the right and another on the left. The golden knob on the right serves multiple functions like power on/off, volume control, song navigation, and device pairing. The left side features an 'M' button that changes equalizer preset via Marshall's official app.
Additionally, the company claims that 'M' button can activate the Spotify Tap feature or invoke your voice assistant however both of them were not functional on my review unit.
Battery backup
Marshall claims the Major V can deliver over 100 hours of playback. In real-time usage, you can expect about 8-10 days with an average use of 10 hours per day, while more casual usage (2-3 hours daily) can stretch battery life to nearly a month. To recharge, it takes approximately 1.5 hours with a 68W charger and Marshall's USB-C cable. With normal adapter it will take up to 3 hours to juice up the headphones completely. Plus, if the battery runs out, you can still use the headphones using an AUX cable, which is included in the box.
While the headphones support wireless charging, the charging pad is not included in the box.
Performance & sound
Equipped with 40mm dynamic drivers, the Major V delivers detailed sound across all ranges—from bass to treble, and everything in between. The Bluetooth 5.3 ensures instant pairing with devices up to 10 meters away, and you can connect to two devices simultaneously. The built-in microphone performs well, even in crowded environments, although you'll need to be lowder for clear communication during calls or recordings in overcrowded places.
Price and colour:
As of now, the Major V headphones are available in three colours; Black, Brown, and Cream. It is available for Rs 14,999 in the Indian market.
Pros:
- Easy to carry
- Comfortable fit
- Reliable connectivity
- Impressive battery life
- Classic leather design finish
- Excellent sound quality and bass
- Work with Bluetooth and AUX cable
Cons
- No water-resistant/splashproof
- No noise cancellation feature
- Higher price point for the Indian market
- Cause sweating in warm environments
Verdict
Overall, this audio product impresses with its sound quality, battery life and design. However, the device feels a bit pricy considering the highly competitive Indian market. There are several options available at much lower prices and with additional features.
