“Phishing is a global problem faced by Banks worldwide. It is an attempt to 'fish' for your banking details. Phishing could be an e-mail that appears to be from a known institution like banks/a popular website. Please note that Banks will never ask for confidential data like login and transaction password, One Time Password (OTP), Unique Reference No (URN) etc,” ICICI Bank’s website says.
The bank has advised its customers to keep PIN card number and other critical account related information, confidential.
In case of loss of money due to any fraudulent activity, the account holder should immediately inform the bank. The banking regulator - Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) rules are quite clear which say that if a customer lodges a complaint with the bank immediately, he will be paid back the entire amount within 10 days of the incident.
