Fake scheme in name of RBI offers to make you crorepati; government warns people- Check details here

A message in the name of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is being circulated and claims that a person can earn Rs 4.62 crore by paying only Rs 12,500. However, it is important to note that this information is fake.

PIB Fact Check has recently tweeted about the same and has asked people to beware of such deceitful messages. According to PIB Fact Check, the RBI has not made any such claims and the fraudsters have impersonated government's organisation to dupe people of money.

In order to inform people and make them alert of these fake messages and websites PIB fact Check has used a scene from the movie Phir Hera Pheri. "4 crore in 30 minutes? That sounds familiar, doesn't it?" the text in the video read.

According to the tweet, the fraudster claims to be working for the RBI and have also used RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das' picture on the fake website. The fraudsters have asked people to pay Rs 12,500 and claimed that an online banking manager will transfer the fund of Rs 4 crores 62 lakhs in return in less than 30 minutes.

Digitalization has got a boost due to the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic, while on the other hand online scams have become common nowadays.

PIB Fact Check had also discovered another fraud a few days back and had alerted people about the same. As per the tweet scammers claimed that they would credit Rs 2,67,000 in the account of the person who will click on the link mentioned in the message.
