Exclusive: Government edible oil portal ready; aims to cut rates by keeping tab on edible oil stocks

As per the information, the new portal will look after the stocks of edible oil and oil seeds. Details of 13 types of oil and seeds will have to be given. Also, oil seeds prices and stock will be updated weekly on the portal.

Data will have to be released on the portal every week. Producers can upload the data by logging into the portal by visiting the official website that is https://evegoils.nic.in/.
It can be noted that only government departments can see the datas uploaded on the portal. Government hopes that this will increase transparency and is an important step to control oil prices. Also, hoarding can be curbed with the help of this portal.
The government had held a meeting for the same on Friday. In the meeting training was given about the portal and information related to the whole process was informed.
Joint Secretary, Impex and IC joined the Food Secretaries and Food Commissioners of the states in the meeting. Representatives of Edible Oil Processing Associations were also present in the meeting.
