The service works under certain conditions. The user's UAN or Universal Account Number must be seeded into any of the bank account, the Aadhaar or the PAN in order for this service to work, according to the EPFO website. The UAN — allotted by the EPFO — is an identification number that acts as an umbrella for the multiple member IDs allotted to an individual by different establishments.

The user has to give a missed call to the number 9966044425 from the registered mobile number to use the service. The call automatically gets disconnected after two rings, and does not cost the user, according to the EPFO website.

Remember, the service only works for registered members calling from the mobile number fed into the EPFO system as well as one of the following:
- the bank account
- the Aadhaar
- the PAN
Subsequently, the user receives details such as the last contribution to their PF corpus and the total balance of their PF account after giving the missed call.
Late last month, the EPFO declared the interest rate applicable to the Employees' Provident Fund deposits for the 2022-23 financial year. The PF body fixed the interest rate at 8.15 per cent, lifting it from four-decade low of 8.1 per cent. Read more on EPF interest rate
