e-Shram Registration: Are farmers eligible to register on the portal? Know details here

The e-Shram portal was launched on August 26, 2021 and the government also provides e-Shram card to the workers. Recently, 8 crore unorganised workers have joined the e-shram portal. Now, there is a question in the minds that are farmers eligible to register on the e-shram portal?

As per the official website of e-shram, only the agriculture labourers and landless farmers are eligible for registration in the eSHRAM portal. It must be noted that the other farmers are not eligible to register themselves on e-shram portal.

The registered workers on e-shram portal must note that those who have registered themselves in the e-Shram portal will be enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and the premium for the first year will be borne by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

One must know about the various benefits of registration in this e-shram portal. After registering, the unorganized worker will get an Accidental Insurance cover of Rs 2 lakhs under PMSBY. In future, all the social security benefits of unorganized workers will be delivered through this portal. In emergency and national pandemic like situations, this database may be utilized to provide necessary assistance to the eligible unorganized workers.

Now, for self-enrolment, the documents required include Aadhaar number, Bank account details and Aadhaar linked mobile number. Again, if one wishes to get enrolled through CSC, the documents that will be required include Aadhaar number, Bank account details. It must be noted that the registration on CSC is free of cost.

Those who have not yet registered on this portal can do so by following some simple steps. They are as follows:

Step 1:  Login to the official website at eshram.gov.in

Step 2: Click on the 'Register on e-SHRAM' link which is present on the home page

Step 3: Enter the Aadhaar linked mobile number and captcha code and click on send OTP

Step 4: Follow the subsequent instructions to complete the registration process

It can be noted that if a worker does not have Aadhaar linked mobile number, he/ she can visit nearest CSC’s and register through Biometric authentication.
