e-Shram Portal Registrations: Agricultural accounts for lion share of registrations; see sector-wise traction

e-Shram Registration: There have been more than 25 crore registrations on the e-Shram portal as per the information from the Directorate General Labour Welfare (DGLW). The interested individuals who have not yet registered for the e-Shram portal can do so by logging in to the official website of e-Shram at eshram.gov.in.

The central government rolled out the national database for unorganised workers for the overall welfare of the unorganised workers in the country. The e-Shram Portal was launched on August 26, 2021 and the government also provides the e-Shram card to the workers.

The DGLW has also provided the data for the sector-wise registration on e-Shram portal. It is as follows:

1) Agriculture - 51.56 per cent

2) Domestic workers - 10.51 per cent

3) Construction - 9.48 per cent

4) Apparel - 6.40 per cent

5) Education - 1.78 per cent

6) Electronics - 1.78 per cent

7) Capital goods and manufacturing - 2.49 per cent

Those who have not yet registered on this portal can do so by following some simple steps. They are as follows:

Step 1:  Login to the official website at eshram.gov.in

Step 2: Click on the 'Register on e-SHRAM' link which is present on the home page

Step 3: Enter the Aadhaar linked mobile number and captcha code and click on send OTP

Step 4: Follow the subsequent instructions to complete the registration process

It can be noted that if a worker does not have Aadhaar linked mobile number, he/ she can visit nearest CSC’s and register through Biometric authentication.

One must note that the workers who have registered through the e-Shram portal. The e-Shram members can get free COVID-19 vaccination from the ESI hospital or the nearest dispensary vaccine centre in their district.
