Bank Holidays in January 2022: The bank customers must note that the banks will remain closed for a number of days in the month of January in 2022. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issues a list of holidays for the banks in different cities. On these days, the bank customers will not be able to withdraw and deposit money at their respective bank branches.

One must know that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), grants holidays to the banks under three categories. They are Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
On January 1, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok and Shillong on the occasion of New Year’s Day.
On January 3, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Aizawl and Gangtok on the occasion of New Year’s Celebration/Losoong.
On January 4, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Gangtok on the occasion of Losoong.
On January 11, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Aizawl on the occasion of Missionary Day.
On January 12, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Kolkata on the occasion of the Birthday of Swami Vivekananda.
On January 14, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad and Chennai on the occasion of Makar Sankranti/Pongal.
On January 15, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok and Hyderabad on the occasions of Uttarayaana Punyakaala Makar Sankranti Festival/Maghe Sankranti/Sankranti/Pongal/Thiruvalluvar Day.
On January 18, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Chennai on the occasion of Thai Poosam.
On January 26, 2022, the banks will remain closed in all cities except Agartala, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Imphal, Jaipur, Kochi and Srinagar on the occasion of Republic Day.
Apart from the above-mentioned holidays, the banks will also remain closed on January 8, 2022 and January 22, 2022 due to second and fourth Saturdays. The banks will also remain closed on January 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 because of Sundays.
