7th pay Commission latest news: After the arrival of New Year 2020, state government employees where 7th CPC has implemented were eagerly waiting for the dearness allowance (DA) announcement.
7th Pay Commission latest news: After the arrival of New Year 2020, state government employees have been eagerly waiting for the announcement of Dearness Allowance (DA) for January to June period of 2020. In fact, their expectation was that they will get at least 4 per cent DA for Jan-June 2020 period as inflation had gone up by 3 points in July, August, September and October month. They were of the opinion that if inflation remains at the same levels for the next two more months then they will get at least 4 per cent DA. Moving beyond that, Gujarat Government has announced as much as 5 per cent DA and DR for its government employees and pensioners respectively.
Announcing the DA hike for the Gujarat state government employees and its retired employees, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said that now after the 5 per cent DA hike, Gujarat state government employees' DA would become equivalent to the central government employees. Gujarat state government employees and pensioners were getting 12 per cent DA and DR respectively, which would now become 17 per cent, which is currently being given to the Central Government employees.

While announcing the decision in Gandhinagar, Patel said that the decision would help 5.11 lakh state government employees and near 4.5 lakh Gujarat Government pensioners. The 5 per cent DA announced by the Gujarat Government will be effective from 1st July 2019 means the Gujarat State Government employees and pensioners will get six months arrears as well.
Patel also announced that when January 2020 salary and pension will be credited, this DA will be added in it while the arrears will be given to the state government employees and pensioners in a phased manner. The Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat said that after the 5 per cent DA hike of state government employees and pensioners near Rs 1,821 crore pressure would come on the Gujarat Government exchequer.
