7th Pay Commission: While a majority of state and central government employees have been enjoying 7th Pay Commission pay hike and benefits, some states are yet to implement the report's recommendations. On the other hand, the central government staffers had also been waiting for a hike in the fitment factor, which did not happen and the Election Commission's model code of conduct kicked in due to the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Meanwhile, a 15th Finance Commission team has been visiting different states before submitting its recommendations to the government for devolution of taxes and other fiscal matters for the next five fiscal years, commencing April 1, 2020. Recently, a team of the finance commission visited Mizoram where the state government has submitted a memorandum to the team demanding Rs 94,647.33 crore, reported PTI.
The team held meetings with the Mizoram chief secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo and senior state government officials. While the memorandum lists out expenses under various heads, the government has submitted another financial proposal demanding Rs 1,283.70 crore for implementation of enhanced 7th pay commission pay for the state government employees.
