7th Pay Commission: The central government employees will soon get the good news of an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). With a five percent rise, DA of these employees for the month of July 2019 would reach 17.67 percent when the government announcement comes. DA for July-December 2019 period would be five percent more from the DA for January to June 2019 period. Meanwhile, the All India Consumer Price Index Numbers (AICPIN) for July has increased to 319 points, from 316 points in June 2019.
It was earlier reported that there will be five percent increase in DA. If this comes into effect, there will be at least an increase in salary of the central government employees between Rs 900 and Rs 12,500 per month.
Former president of AG Office Brotherhood, Prayagraj, Harishankar Tiwari told Zee Business Online that the July AICPI number has gone up, though it is expected to remain low in the coming months. He said that in financial year 1997-98, when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, witnessed a substential increase in DA. After that, in all these years, there was no such significant increase in DA. The July-December increament in DA has been another such significant leap, he said.
Currently, the Central government employees are getting 12 percent DA, which was implemented on January 2019. Keeping in mind the increased AICPI number in July, the government may announce the increase in DA anytime soon.
