At the close, Sensex added 0.69 per cent ot 545.34 points and ended at 79,986.8, while Nifty ended at 0.67 per cent or 162.65 points to close at 24,286.5 points. Meanwhile, Bank Nifty after logging fresh highs ended sharply higher by 1.8 per cent.
