How consumption stocks will benefit from World Cup 2023
According to Zee Business research, it is expected that the Indian economy will get a boost of Rs 13,500 crore from direct and indirect spending during the ICC World Cup 2023.
As India is all set to host the 13th edition of the Men's Cricket World Cup after 12 years, many sectors are expected to benefit from it.
According to Zee Business research, it is expected that the Indian economy will get a boost of Rs 13,500 crore from direct and indirect spending during the ICC World Cup 2023.
Further, the research suggests that food outlets and delivery applications will get a double boost with the World Cup and the festival season around the corner. The research says that an estimated growth of 6 per cent to 8 per cent is expected in QSR and food delivery apps during the Cricket World Cup.
Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) companies like Jubilant FoodWorks, which operates Domino's Pizza in India, and food delivery apps like Swiggy and Zomato could benefit from the World Cup as food delivery during the cricket mega event is expected to increase.
Growth estimation is done by looking back at the historical data of Jubilant Foodworks, where the company's same-store sales (SSG) grew 6.6 per cent during the 2015 World Cup against its annual SSG, which was negative by 4.5 per cent.

SSG during the 2019 World Cup was 4.5 per cent as compared to the annual SSG of 1.7 per cent.
Other sectors that could benefit during the World Cup are aviation, hotels, railways, liquor, and so on.
QSR and food delivery apps shares historic performances
In 2023, shares of Jubilant FoodWorks have soared over 5 per cent and the stock of Zomato has gained over 74 per cent against Nifty 50's rise of over 7 per cent during the same duration.
Stocks to be in focus during World Cup 2023
According to Motilal Oswal, apart from Zomato and Jubilant Foodworks, the Indian Hotels Company, Interglobe Aviation, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), Varun Beverages, and United Spirits are some stocks that can be in focus during the World Cup 2023.
"The upcoming cricket World Cup in India offers an excellent opportunity for the home team to end their ICC trophy drought of over 10 years. It also allows stock market investors to profit significantly from the above-mentioned shares," the brokerage firm said.
