Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: Indian equity benchmarks Nifty 50 and Sensex finished a choppy session higher on Monday — extending gains to a third straight day, as the Indian stock market entered a three-session, holiday-truncated week on account of Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday holidays. Auto stocks — from the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Royal Enfield parent Eicher Motors and Hero Motocorp — were in focus as the companies reported their monthly sales reports.
The RBI's Monetary Policy Committee — the central bank's all-powerful panel that decides benchmark interest rates for the country — began a three-day bi-monthly review on Monday. Is another RBI rate hike on the cards? All eyes are on a key rate decision by the RBI, due on Thursday.
Indian financial markets will resume trading next on Wednesday.

Nifty is up 40.80 points or 0.24 percent to 17,399.8 backed by broad-based buying with financial and automobile shares being the top contributors.
On the contrary, the IT and FMCG sectors remain the top draggers.

Both headline indices finish the volatile day with a gain of 0.2 per cent. The Nifty rises 38.3 points to settle at 17,398.1, and the Sensex ends at 59,106.4, up 114.9 points from its previous close.

Global Market Update LIVE | European stocks rise as OPEC+ output cuts boost oil majors
European shares were up on Monday after ending a volatile quarter higher, as oil heavyweights rallied after a surprise announcement by OPEC+ to cut production further lifted crude prices.
However, the gains were limited by a rise in U.S. and European bond yields that led to technology shares falling 0.7 per cent, as a jump in oil prices stoked fears of persistent inflation.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.1 per cent in the first trading session of the new quarter.

The futures contract of the yellow metal is down by Rs 252 or 0.42 per cent to trade at Rs 59150 per 10 grams, having moved within a range of Rs 59040-59200 earlier in the day.
Gold futures have a 52-week range from Rs 50490-60455.
