Cues from US Markets to key Q2FY23 results, here are 10 things to know before markets reopen on 12 October

Indian stock markets continued their losing streak on Monday. The BSE Sensex ended at 57,147.32, down by 843.79 points or 1.46 per cent from the Monday closing level. Meanwhile, the Nifty50 index closed at 16983.55, lower by 257 points or 1.49 per cent. In the 30-share Sensex, only two stocks gained while the remaining 28 ended on the losing side. In the 50-stock Nifty50, three stocks advanced while 47 declined.
On BSE, out of the 3,563 stocks that traded on Tuesday, 1,037 stocks advanced while 2,408 stocks declined. Stocks that did not witness change were 118.
Nifty Bank ended at 38712.45, down by nearly 1 per cent or 380 points. All 15 sectoral indices closed with losses. The worst performers were Nifty Realty (3:07 per cent), Nifty Metal (2.20 per cent) and Nifty IT (1.99 per cent). Nifty Midcap 100 closed at 30,567.70, down by 1.74 per cent and Nifty Smallcap 100 ended at 9,477.85 down by 1.70 per cent.

Key triggers to watch out for, when markets reopen on Wednesday:
1) Volatility Index or India VIX was up by 4.42 per cent and ended at 20.49 on the NSE from 19.62 on Monday.
2) Q2FY23 Results: Largecap IT companies Wipro and HCL Technologies will announce their quarterly results tomorrow. HCL Tech Q2FY23 Results Preview: IT major may report good show – PAT likely to grow by 3%, margins to expand moderately.
3) US Markets were trading positively on Tuesday. The Dow 30 was trading at 29,454.20, up by 251.36 points 0.86 per cent while S&P 500 was trading at 3,622.74, up by 10.35 points or 0.29 per cent. Meanwhile, Nasdaq Composite was tradng at 10,557.80, up by 5.65 points or 0.15 per cent. Domestic markets will take cues from their global peers. Investors must watch for today's closing of US markets, Dow Futures and SGX Nifty in the morning.

5) Commodities: Yellow metal shed some losses towards the fag end of the trading session. The December Gold futures were trading at Rs 51210, up by Rs 187 or 0.37 per cent from the Monday closing price. Meanwhile, MCX December Silver futures were trading at Rs 58806 hours before the closing time. They were down by Rs 296 or 0.50 per cent.

6) FII /DII Data: Foreign Institutional Investors sold equities worth Rs 4,612.67 cr on Tuesday while the Domestic Institutional Investors sold domestic shares worth Rs 2,430.76 cr.
7) Securities (F&O) in Ban For Trade on 12 October, 2022: Delta Corp, Indiabulls Housing Finance and India Cements.
8) Bulk Deals: At least 20 stocks witnessed bulk deal action. Goldman Sachs Investment (Mauritus) I Ltd bought 69,66,712 shares in Indusind Bank at Rs 1167.53 per share. Meanwhile, Route One Fund I LP sold 120,00,000 shares at Rs 1168.26. Graviton Research Capital LLP bought 1,42,439 shares Atul Auto Limited at Rs 241.38 per share. Among other deals, Kshitij Polyline Limited, Motilal Oswal Financial S and VST Tillers Tractors Ltd witnessed bulk deal action.
