STRONG DEMAND for Bajaj Auto’s Chetak Electric Scooter, Bookings Open And Close In 48 Hours

Bajaj Auto re-opened online bookings for the Chetak electric scooter on 13th April and had to close just 48 hours later due to overwhelming number of bookings. The bookings were accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Bajaj Auto said it will review the supply and production situation and announce the next round of bookings for the electric scooter. The Chetak was launched in early 2020 and is available in two variants, Premium and Urbane. The Chetak Premium is priced at Rs 1.26 lakh while the Urbane is priced at Rs 1.22 lakh.

Bajaj Auto Management said that it is absolutely delighted to see the fabulous response to the re-opening of bookings for the Chetak electric scooter in Pune and Bengaluru.

Bajaj Auto - A strong premiumization strategy, a positive export outlook, and a renewed emphasis on margins and urban recovery are all factors at play. It's encouraging to learn that the company's execution activities have helped to solidify the company's position in the executive motorcycle market (the initial success of the Pulsar 125cc) while assuaging broader fears regarding cannibalism and brand dilution. Its operating efficiency should be supported by a sustained outlook for export recovery, incremental normalization of urban demand, and a renewed emphasis on margins over volume through better mix/price hikes and cost control steps. On a low base, the company expects the domestic 2W industry to expand by 15-20 percent in FY22.
