Stocks to buy today: List of 20 stocks for profitable trade on January 18

The Indian markets ended in the green after starting flat with positive bias tracking Asian indices which traded mixed in the morning. Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and the Sensex added 0.29% and 0.14% to settle at 18,308.10 and 61,308.91 respectively. The minor rally was driven by auto and oil & gas shares.  

"Auto stocks shone in a flat trading session on the back of price hikes, thrust on electric vehicles and ETF launches in the sector as the basket of stocks posted smart gains. The Commodity Index provided good support in Afternoon Trade buoyed by earnings. The broader markets witnessed profit taking in Pharma stocks with investor interest seen in Footwear stocks," said S Ranganathan, Head of Research at LKP securities.

On Tuesday morning, Asian indices were trading in the green as Japanese Nikkei 225 was seen trading 0.77% higher, Hang Seng Index at the Hong Kong Exchange also gained 0.59% and Shanghai Composite added 0.24% at around 7.30 am.  

Earlier, the US markets remained closed on Monday on account of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
