An artistic journey through depth and symbolism: 'Buoyant Iconic Depth' art exhibition in New Delhi
New Delhi, India – The Sanjeev Sinha Foundation invites art aficionados to Buoyant Iconic Depth, an exhibition that celebrates the late artist Sanjeev Sinha’s profound legacy. The exhibition will be held at the India Habitat Centre’s Visual Arts Gallery from November 20 to 26, 2024, presenting an unparalleled opportunity to delve into the layered world of Sinha’s art.
Curated by Els Reijnders (Director Foundation for Indian Artist) and Dianne Hagen (Visual artist from the Netherlands), Buoyant Iconic Depth features works created by Sinha between 2013 and 2020, supported by The Raza Foundation, Takshila, and Mediverse Hospital. With a focus on pieces that have never been seen by the public before, the exhibition offers insight into Sinha’s personal reflections on society, beauty, and spirituality. His use of bold colours, mythological motifs, and symbolic imagery invites viewers to explore beyond the surface, where deeper meanings await.
Sinha’s work is a unique commentary on contemporary India, where traditional values often intersect with modern challenges. His themes resonate across generations, yet they remain universal and timeless. A pivotal figure in Indian contemporary art, Sinha’s artworks gained international acclaim, notably with his early paintings and recent sculptures in Amsterdam. The exhibition will feature these acclaimed sculptures, displayed alongside paintings in a dual format that captures the essence of Sinha’s holistic approach to art.
Renowned art historian Willem Baars praises Sinha’s ability to “create images that are complex yet relatable, always evoking a sense of mystery that engages viewers in a meditative experience.” Similarly, art critic Meera Menezes remarks on Sinha’s deep connection to his subject matter, emphasising the artist’s skill at drawing viewers into a contemplative space that feels both personal and transcendent.
A special catalog will accompany the exhibition, featuring commentary by curators and art critics, capturing Sinha’s rich artistic journey in a format that art lovers and scholars alike will cherish.
