A good breather for the stocks markets today after three consecutive sessions of fall. The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended near the day’s high on the weekly expiry day. The Sensex ended at 52,837.21, up by 1.22 per cent or over 638 points while the broader market Nifty 50 ended at 15,824.05, gaining 191 points or 1.22 per cent.
In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 26 stocks were trading in the green at the end of Thursday’s trading session while the remaining 4 stocks were trading in the red at the closing time. The top 5 gainers on Thursday at close were Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finserv and Larsen & Toubro while the top losers were Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto and Mahindra & Mahindra.

- Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Bank ended 0.76 per cent up at 34,677.30.
- Nifty auto was up 0.13 per cent at 10,235.80.
- Nifty Realty was also up by over 1.75 per cent and ended at 395.95.
- Nifty PSU Bank ended at 2,410.15, up 0.93 per cent from the Tuesday closing.
- Nifty Media, Nifty IT, Nifty Metal, Nifty Pharma and Nifty FMCG ended in the green on Thursday.
Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 74.4900 on the BSE against the USD at 3:45 pm moving with a negative bias and down by 0.28 per cent from the Tuesday closing price.
