Sensex, Nifty likely to open positive; GIFT Nifty futures up over 50 pts

Share Market Today, August 20: Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty will likely open positive in today's (August 20) session. At around 7:00 am, GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the Nifty50 index, were up 60 points or 0.25 per cent at 24,656 ahead of opening on Dalal Street.

Global Markets

Both US and Asian markets was in positive zones, Nasdaq ended higher, up 1.39 per cent, and MSCI Asia ex Japan is up 0.35 per cent.

• Dow Jones up 236 points or 0.58 per cent at 40,901
• S&P 500 up 54 points or 0.97 per cent at 5,608

On Monday, August 20, 2024, domestic headline indices ended a choppy session largely unchanged amid selling in metal and auto sector shares, with Sensex ending lower at 80,424, down 12 points or 0.02 per cent, while the 50-share index closed at 24,572, up 31 points or 0.13 per cent.
