Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the nation at 5 pm today and speculations were already building up when the news of his address broke out. Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi tries to decode what the address could be about. This is what he said on this development.
Singhvi said that it is very difficult to tell what the announcements could be about but if it is related to the Coronavirus pandemic then it is likely that he would urge people to remain guarded even as the government has been able to control the pandemic. There could be something related to this, he further said.

On the expectations from the markets, the Managing Editor said that it would be fair to say that there is no major demand for a government package, this time around.
He said that though there were sectors that have been directly hit because of the pandemic, many other sectors were doing good at the same time. Moreover, many sectors are not doing as bad as they were doing in the previous lockdown.

Singhvi said that it appears that the troubles are less this time. It could also be the case that businessmen are more mentally prepared this time.
He said that many sectors and stocks have gained this time which has benefitted the investors. There are also stocks that the investors were not able to sell last time and now there is good value in those stocks.
The pains are less this time, he said. He said that he was speaking from the standpoint of business, as there is no doubt that many people have suffered much more on the individual level. People have lost near and dear ones and that cannot be compensated.
As an example, he said that there was not much demand for a loan moratorium this time. He opined that it was unlikely that there would be an announcement related to the relief package.
As we are heading towards a phase-wise unlock, the PM may speak on things that the people must be mindful of, Singhvi said.
