Maruti Suzuki total sales rise 13% in January on steady demand
Maruti Suzuki share price: Maruti Suzuki India — the country's largest carmaker — Maruti Suzuki India reported a 13 per cent increase in total sales at 1,72,535 units in January 2023.
Maruti Suzuki India — the country's largest carmaker — on Wednesday reported total sales of 1,72,535 vehicles in January 2023, marking an increase of 11.8 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago.
That included a 13.7 per cent year-on-year increase in domestic sales to 1,55,142 vehicles, according to a company statement.
Maruti Suzuki said its exports stood at 17,393 vehicles, down three per cent compared with January 2022.
Maruti Suzuki said it took all possible measures to minimise the impact of a shortage of electronic components, which had a minor impact on production mainly in domestic models.
The industry began with a low network stock because of high retails in December, said Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India.
"Therefore, the depleted inventory resulted in slightly muted retails, taking up the network stock to 1.84 lakh units. On the demand side, the enquiries and bookings have been steady despite price hikes done by several OEMs," he said.
Maruti Suzuki's sales in the mini segment — comprising Alto and S-Presso — grew 36.6 per cent to 25,446 vehicles. Sales in the compact segment — comprising Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR — grew 3.3 per cent to 73,840 vehicles in January 2023.
