FIRST TRADE: Indices open in green; Sensex at 66,453.91, Nifty at 19,969

Stock market today: Benchmark indices opened in the positive territory on Tuesday, July 25. The NSE Nifty hovered near the 19,700 level, while the Sensex was above the 66,400 mark. At the time of filing this report, the Nifty50 index was trading at 19,969, up 23.65 points, while the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 66,453.91, up 69.13 points. Auto stocks supported the headline index. 

Broader market 

Nifty Midcap 100 and smallcap 100 were trading in green during the opening. The midcap index was up 0.46 per cent and Smallcap 100 was up 0.55 per cent. Expect India VIX all indices were trading in positive territory. 

Sectoral watch 

Nifty Bank opened higher at 46,154.7. Expect for Nifty FMCG and IT all the indices on the sectoral front were trading in green.

Buzzing stocks 

Auto stocks were the major winners in the morning trade with Hero MotoCorp up over 1 per cent, and Tata Motors up nearly 1 per cent ahead of the results. Among FMCG stocks, Nestle opened nearly 1 per cent higher. 

Conversely, ITC, LTIMindtree, Maruti Suzuki, Infosys, SRF, Navin Fluorine, Aarti Industries, and Asian Paints were trading lower.
