Share Market Today, Global Markets; US Stocks, Asian Shares: Headline indices Sensex and Nifty are likely to open today’s session in negative territory. As of 7:20 am, GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the 50-share index, were down 37.80 points or 0.15 per cent at 25,011 ahead of the opening bell on Dalal Street.
Global Stock Markets
In the US, Wall Street closed in green sphere, with the Dow Jones reaching a record high. Both the Nasdaq and S&P 500 also ended higher.
Asian Share Markets
Asian shares showed mixed performance. Japan's Nikkei 225 fell over 150 points, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng surged over 300 points.

Previous Session Summary
In the last session (October 16), domestic indices ended lower, with Sensex closing at 81,501.36, down 318.76 points or 0.39 per cent, and Nifty 50 at 24,971.30, down 86.05 points or 0.34 per cent. This decline was driven by buying and selling pressures in the IT and auto sectors, affecting stocks like Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Hero MotoCorp. Top gainers included HDFC Life, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Auto, and Bharti Airtel.
