Closing Bell: Nifty above 15550, Sensex gains over 400 points; auto stocks shine as index gains around 4.5%

The Indian stock market scripted a bounce on Thursday after declining by around one and half per cent in Wednesday's session. Benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex closed with nearly one per cent gains on Thursday as the former closed above 15,500 and the latter added over 400 points.
Outperforming the benchmarks, Nifty midcap and smallcap closed higher by around 1.3% each.
Sectorally, Nifty auto gained around 4.5% as Maruti, Hero MotoCorp, Eicher Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and BajaJ auto came out as top gainer on Nifty50. Besides, Nifty Oil & Gas was the only sectoral index to close marginally in the red.
Reliance Industries, Coal India, PowerGrid, NTPC, Grasim and Ultratech Cement were among a few losers in a positive market on Thursday.
